Product Overview
SS Closed-Die Forgings
Stainless steel closed-die forgings are produced by compressing heated billets between precision dies to achieve net-shape or near-net-shape components. Parts include SS forged flanges, SS forged valve bodies, SS forged pipe fittings, SS forged brackets, SS forged coupling halves, SS forged bolts and nuts, SS forged hubs, and SS forged clevis pins. The closed-die process eliminates internal voids and porosity, producing components with tensile strength exceeding 515 MPa for SS 304 grade. Applications span chemical processing, oil & gas piping, instrumentation, and marine equipment.
SS Hot Forged Components
Hot forging of stainless steel involves working the material above its recrystallisation temperature (typically 1050–1250°C for austenitic grades), resulting in excellent formability and a homogeneous microstructure. Hot-forged SS parts include SS forged bushings, SS forged terminal connectors, SS forged lugs, SS forged anchor bolts, SS forged eye bolts, SS forged shackles, SS forged cable gland bodies, SS forged housing blocks, and SS forged impeller hubs. Hot forging refines grain flow, eliminates dendritic casting defects, and produces superior fatigue resistance compared to machined-from-bar or cast equivalents.
SS Cold Forged Components
Cold forging of stainless steel produces extremely tight tolerances (IT6–IT8) and superior surface finish (Ra 1.6–3.2 µm) without additional machining. Cold-forged SS parts include SS forged precision inserts, SS forged pins, SS forged rivets, SS forged screws, SS forged hex bolts, SS forged standoffs, SS forged cable entry components, and SS cold-forged electrical terminals. Work hardening during cold forging increases the yield strength of SS 304 from approximately 210 MPa to over 550 MPa.
SS Forged Flanges and Pipe Fittings
We manufacture stainless steel forged flanges including SS weld-neck flanges, SS slip-on flanges, SS blind flanges, SS socket-weld flanges, SS threaded flanges, SS lap-joint flanges, and SS orifice flanges in sizes from ½” to 24″ NB. Duplex and Super Duplex SS Forged Parts
We supply duplex stainless steel forged components in grades UNS S31803 (2205), UNS S32205, UNS S32750 (super duplex), and UNS S32760 (Zeron 100). Duplex SS forgings provide a combination of austenitic corrosion resistance and ferritic strength, with yield strength approximately double that of SS 316L. Applications: subsea connectors, desalination plant components, offshore wellhead equipment, chemical injection fittings, and high-pressure hydraulic manifolds.
Key Features
- Superior corrosion resistance in chloride, acidic, and alkaline environments
- Higher tensile and yield strength vs. cast or machined-from-bar equivalents
- Refined grain flow for improved fatigue life (3–5× better than castings)
- Tight dimensional tolerances (±0.1 mm typical for closed-die forgings)
- Available in austenitic, ferritic, martensitic, duplex, and super duplex grades
- ASTM, EN, DIN, BS, JIS, and ISO compliant
- EN 10204 Type 3.1/3.2 mill test certificates standard
- Passivation per ASTM A967/A380
Corrosion Resistance
Stainless steel forgings derive their corrosion resistance from the passive chromium oxide layer (minimum 10.5% Cr). SS 316 and 316L grades contain molybdenum (2–3%) for enhanced resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in marine, offshore, and chemical environments. Duplex grades provide PRE values of 34+ (2205) and 42+ (super duplex), suitable for seawater service and chlorinated environments. All SS forged parts undergo passivation treatment per ASTM A967.
Mechanical Strength and Fatigue Life
Closed-die forging aligns the grain flow with the part geometry, producing SS forged components with fatigue life 3–5× that of equivalent castings. SS 304 forgings: UTS ≥ 515 MPa, proof stress ≥ 205 MPa, elongation ≥ 40% per ASTM A182. SS 316L forgings: UTS ≥ 485 MPa, proof stress ≥ 170 MPa. Hot forging eliminates casting defects such as shrinkage porosity, gas inclusions, and dendritic segregation. Charpy V-notch impact testing at –196°C available for cryogenic service.
Dimensional Accuracy and Surface Finish
Closed-die SS forgings achieve tolerances of DIN 7526 Form E (±0.2–0.5 mm) as-forged, with tighter tolerances after CNC finish machining. Surface finish as-forged: Ra 3.2–12.5 µm; after machining: Ra 0.8–3.2 µm; after electropolishing: Ra 0.4–0.8 µm. All critical dimensions verified using CMM with SPC reporting. First article inspection (FAI) reports per AS9102 available.
Material Traceability and Certifications
All raw materials are sourced from ISO 9001-certified steel mills with full chemical and mechanical property test certificates per EN 10204 Type 3.1. Heat number traceability is maintained throughout the forging process. We provide mill test certificates (MTC), certificate of conformance (CoC), NABL-accredited third-party test reports, NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 compliance, and PED 2014/68/EU declarations.

Flash is trimmed in dedicated trimming dies. Parts undergo solution annealing at 1040–1100°C followed by rapid water quench. After heat treatment, parts are shot-blasted and passivated per ASTM A967. CNC machining to final dimensions where required, followed by CMM inspection, hardness testing, and NDT (LPT/UT as specified). Full MTCs accompany each shipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between SS hot forging and SS cold forging?
Hot forging heats stainless steel billets to 1050–1250°C for large deformations with good formability. Cold forging is performed at room temperature, producing tighter tolerances, superior surface finish, and work-hardened parts with higher strength, suited to smaller parts and simpler geometries.
Which SS grade is best for marine forged components?
SS 316L (UNS S31603 / EN 1.4404) is standard for marine applications due to its molybdenum content providing enhanced resistance to chloride pitting. For seawater immersion, duplex 2205 or super duplex 2507 are recommended.
What certifications do your SS forged parts carry?
EN 10204 Type 3.1 MTCs are standard. Type 3.2, NABL test reports, NACE MR0175 compliance, and PED 2014/68/EU declarations are available on request.
