CW724R Brass Forged Parts and Forgings from Cable Glands India support low-lead silicon-brass fittings. CW724R belongs to the silicon-brass family commonly associated with ECO BRASS. Brand identity must be supported by supply documents. Its conductivity differs substantially from conventional forging brass.
CW724R CuZn21Si3P Lead-Free Silicon Brass: Material Selection
Specify the applicable EN product form. Heating and joining cycles need review to preserve corrosion performance. Low residual lead does not replace finished-product approvals or lead-migration testing.
Chemical Composition of CW724R
Mass percentage. The ordered standard, edition and batch certificate govern acceptance. Zinc is the balance. Include any additional impurity limits in the procurement specification.
| Element | Mass % |
|---|---|
| Cu | 75–77 |
| Si | 2.7–3.5 |
| P | 0.02–0.10 |
| Pb | ≤0.10 |
| Zn | Balance |
Physical Properties
Appx reference values for material comparison, normally near room temperature unless a range is stated. These are not allowable design stresses, pressure ratings or guaranteed test results for every finished component.
| Property | Appx value |
|---|---|
| Density | 8.28 g/cm³ |
| Thermal conductivity | 38 W/(m·K) |
| Electrical conductivity | 8% IACS |
| Elastic modulus, annealed | 100 GPa |
| Melting range | 860–930°C |
Mechanical Properties and Technical Requirements
Tensile strength, proof stress, elongation and hardness depend on section size, final condition and manufacturing history. Cold-drawn rod or sheet properties must not be presented as forged-part guarantees. Specify the required numerical values, test method, specimen location and sampling plan for the actual component.
| Characteristic | Order requirement |
|---|---|
| Tensile and proof strength | Define final condition and minimum values in MPa |
| Elongation | State specimen geometry and minimum percentage |
| Hardness | State scale, range and measurement location |
| Forging dimensions | Parting line, draft, fillets and machining allowance |
| Machined features | Datums, bores, threads, seats and surface finish |
| Pressure duty | Design-specific working conditions and test acceptance |
Industries and Typical Uses
Sanitary fittings, water-equipment connection bodies, machined unions, adapters and valve components.
Buyers include OEM equipment builders, industrial distributors and engineering purchasing teams. Select CW724R against actual loads, environment, fluid and operating temperature. An alloy name alone does not establish suitability for every application in an industry. Corrosion, assembly stress and the mating material must be reviewed together.
Forging and CNC Machining
The drawing review establishes the blank, die arrangement and machining sequence. Billet preparation, controlled heating, forming and trimming produce the shaped blank. CNC machining then establishes bores, threads, seats and mounting features. Deburring and cleaning remove loose chips without damaging functional edges.
For CW724R, the production plan centres on low-lead silicon-brass fittings. Use generous internal radii, practical die draft and clearly identified machining surfaces. Locate parting lines away from important sealing faces where practical. First-article approval checks the finished geometry and assembly fit before repeat production.
Threads, Bores and Sealing Interfaces
Specify G BSP parallel threads to ISO 228-1, R/Rc/Rp BSP pressure-jointing interfaces to ISO 7-1 or NPT to ASME B1.20.1 where required. Identify every connection separately. Nominal pipe size is not bore diameter or outside diameter, and BSP and NPT must not be treated as interchangeable.
Define effective thread length, blind-port clearance, intersecting passages and sealing geometry. Parallel connections require their designed face seal, washer, O-ring or seat. Taper connections require controlled engagement and a suitable sealing method. The pressure rating belongs to the complete design and service conditions.
Inspection, Traceability and Finish
Material analysis checks the ordered chemistry. Dimensional inspection verifies the forged envelope and machined features. Thread gauges must match the specified system and final supplied finish. Agree any mechanical, corrosion, leak or proof testing and the required records before production.
Batch traceability should connect raw material, manufacturing and final inspection. State certificate format and sampling expectations. Natural brass and specified plating can be reviewed to drawing; coating thickness affects thread fit and sealing faces. Packaging should protect threads, seats and cosmetic surfaces during handling.
Final Price and Purchasing
CW724R Brass Forged Parts and Forgings: final product price US$17.90 per kilogram. This is the published final product price. For example, 100 kg has a product value of US$1,450. Record quantity, finished mass, delivery destination, freight, taxes and any separately ordered services in the commercial documents.
Send a controlled drawing with revision, alloy standard, final condition, quantity, annual usage, finish and inspection requirements. Include the medium, pressure and temperature for fluid-contact or pressure-retaining parts. A sample or photograph can assist discussion but does not replace an approved drawing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is CW724R used for?
Sanitary fittings, water-equipment connection bodies, machined unions, adapters and valve components.
What is the final price?
The final product price is US$17.90/kg. Multiply the finished product mass in kilograms by US$14.50.
Can you manufacture to a drawing?
Send your controlled drawing, quantity, alloy specification and inspection requirements to Cable Glands India.
Does the alloy designation guarantee finished mechanical properties?
No. Strength, elongation and hardness depend on the final condition, geometry and process. Agree acceptance values for the finished part.
Can BSP and NPT threads be supplied?
Specify BSPP G, BSPT R/Rc/Rp or NPT at each interface, together with thread length, sealing design and gauge acceptance.
Are product approvals automatic?
No. Material chemistry, quality-management certification and finished-product approvals are separate requirements.
What documents can be specified?
Material certificates, dimensional inspection, thread checks and agreed mechanical, corrosion, leak or proof-test records.
How do I order?
Provide part number, drawing revision, mass, quantity, material standard, finish, service conditions, packaging and delivery requirements.
