Overview
Brass Hex Nuts — also known as Brass hexagonal nuts, Brass DIN 934 nuts, Brass full nuts, or Brass standard nuts — are one of the most fundamental fastening components in engineering. A hexagonal nut is an internally threaded fastener with six flat sides, designed to engage with a bolt, screw, or threaded stud to clamp two or more parts together. Brass is the preferred material when corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity, or aesthetics are critical, and where galvanic compatibility with Brass bolts or Copper busbars is required.
In electrical panel boards, switchgear assemblies, transformer terminations, and earthing systems, Brass Hex Nuts provide a secure and corrosion-resistant connection that Stainless Steel or mild steel nuts cannot always match without risk of galvanic corrosion or poor conductivity. In plumbing, Brass hex nuts seal threaded pipe joints reliably under pressure. In marine hardware, architectural fittings, and instrumentation, they offer the visual appeal of a bright or plated finish combined with lasting durability.
Our Brass Hex Nuts are manufactured in accordance with DIN 934, ISO 4032, BS 1768, IS 1363, ANSI/ASME B18.2.2, and JIS B 1181 standards, covering metric, BSW, BSF, UNC, UNF, and custom thread profiles. With a size range from M3 to M52 (and imperial equivalents from 4-40 UNC to 2″-UNC), we cater to small precision assemblies as well as large industrial equipment. Thread classes of 6H (metric) and 2B (unified) are standard, with 4H/6H and 3B available on request for fine-tolerance applications.
All material used is verified by spectrometer analysis and tensile testing, ensuring consistent chemical composition and mechanical properties batch to batch. Our facility operates CNC multi-spindle and Swiss-type lathes, automatic nut-forming presses, and thread rolling machines to deliver high-volume production with short lead times and minimal variation.

Manufacturing Process
Brass Hex Nuts are produced by two primary routes: cold forming (cold forging or cold heading) for smaller sizes and machining from hexagonal Brass bar stock for larger or more complex geometries. In the cold forging process, coiled Brass wire is fed into a nut-former machine that progressively forms the blank, pierces the center hole, and extrudes the hex profile — all in a multi-station progressive die. The result is a net-shape blank that requires only thread tapping and deburring, making the process extremely cost-effective for high volumes in sizes M3 to M20.
For larger sizes (M20 to M52) or special profiles, hexagonal Brass bar is CNC-turned on multi-spindle automatic lathes. The bar is faced to length, the central bore is drilled and reamed to size, and the thread is cut with precision taps or thread-milling cutters. After tapping, nuts undergo deburring in vibratory finishing bowls, followed by ultrasonic cleaning, inspection, and plating if specified. Thread quality is verified using calibrated go/no-go gauges on a sampling plan conforming to ISO 2859-1 (AQL 1.0 or better).
Machines used in our facility include CNC multi-spindle automatic lathes, Sung-il and Davenport-type nut formers, Tajmac ZPS CNC turning centers, CNC thread-milling centers, vibratory deburring systems, thread-rolling machines for external threads, barrel plating lines (nickel, tin, chrome), and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) for dimensional verification.

Plating and Surface Finish Options
Brass Hex Nuts can be supplied in natural (self-colour) Brass finish or with various electroplated coatings to enhance corrosion resistance, conductivity, or appearance. Nickel plating (electroless or electrolytic) provides a bright, uniform coating with excellent corrosion and abrasion resistance, widely specified in automotive, marine, and electrical applications. Tin plating (electrolytic bright tin) improves solderability and prevents tarnish, making tin-plated Brass nuts preferred in PCB assembly, terminal blocks, and battery connectors. Chrome plating (decorative hexavalent or trivalent) is used where a mirror finish is required. Passivation with lacquer or a clear coat preserves the natural Brass colour for architectural and decorative applications. We can also supply hot-dip tinned and silver-plated variants for high-conductivity specialist applications in the transformer and switchgear sector.
Tolerances
Thread tolerances are maintained to 6H class (metric) and 2B class (unified) as standard, with 4H/6H available on request. Width-across-flats tolerance follows DIN 934 / ISO 4032 tolerances of -0.00 / +0.15 mm for flats up to 13 mm and -0.00 / +0.18 mm for larger flats. Height tolerances are ±0.1 mm on M3–M10 and ±0.15 mm on M12 and above. Custom tolerances and 100% inspection with CMM reports are available for critical aerospace or defence applications.
Industries Served
Our Brass Hex Nuts find application in electrical panel board assembly, switchgear and transformer manufacturing, plumbing and HVAC systems, marine and offshore hardware, automotive and two-wheeler assemblies, instrumentation and flow control, construction and architectural hardware, renewable energy installations (solar mounting systems and wind turbines), defence and aerospace sub-assemblies, and general-purpose industrial machinery. The non-magnetic and non-sparking nature of Brass makes these nuts mandatory in hazardous area equipment such as ATEX-rated enclosures and explosive-proof fittings.

Frequently Asked Questions (Q&A)
Q1: What is a DIN 934 Brass Hex Nut?
DIN 934 is a German/European standard defining the dimensions and tolerances of hexagonal full nuts for metric coarse pitch threads. Brass DIN 934 nuts are manufactured from Brass alloy and conform to this dimensional standard, making them interchangeable with DIN 934 nuts from any compliant manufacturer globally.
Q2: What thread standards are available?
We supply Brass Hex Nuts in Metric (DIN 934 / ISO 4032), BSW (British Standard Whitworth), BSF (British Standard Fine), UNC (Unified National Coarse), UNF (Unified National Fine), NPT, and fully custom thread profiles as per customer drawings or samples.
Q3: What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
For standard sizes our MOQ starts from 500 pieces. For custom sizes and special grades, MOQ varies from 1,000 to 5,000 pieces depending on the size and complexity. We are flexible for established customers and long-term partnerships.
Q4: Do you supply RoHS-compliant, low-lead Brass nuts?
Yes. We supply low-lead Brass nuts in CW724R (Europe, EN 12164) and C69300 (USA, ASTM) grades with lead content below 0.25%, suitable for potable water fittings and RoHS/REACH-compliant assemblies.
Q5: Can you manufacture non-standard sizes?
Absolutely. We regularly manufacture Brass Hex Nuts with non-standard across-flat dimensions, non-standard heights (extra thin or extra thick), left-hand threads, and custom chamfer angles. Please share your drawing or sample for quotation.
Q6: What plating options do you offer?
We offer nickel plating, tin plating, chrome plating, silver plating, gold plating, and lacquer or clear-coat finishes. Electroless nickel plating is available for uniform thickness on complex profiles.
Q7: What are Brass Jam Nuts (Thin Nuts)?
Jam nuts are extra-thin Brass hex nuts (approximately half the standard height) used as locking nuts in conjunction with a standard nut, or in applications where axial space is restricted. They conform to DIN 439 (ISO 4035) dimensional standards.
Q8: Are your Brass nuts suitable for use with Stainless Steel bolts?
Yes, Brass nuts can be used with Stainless Steel bolts, though care should be taken in highly saline or aggressive environments where galvanic corrosion could occur. In such cases, an appropriate grease or thread sealant is recommended. For electrical applications, Brass-on-Brass pairings are preferred for conductivity.
Q9: What quality control procedures do you follow?
All batches undergo incoming raw material verification (spectrometer analysis), in-process dimensional checks every 30 minutes on thread gauges and vernier calipers, and final inspection per ISO 2859-1 at AQL 1.0. Material test certificates (MTCs) are provided with each shipment on request.
Q10: Do you offer sample orders before full production?
Yes, we are happy to send pre-production samples for customer approval before committing to full-volume production. Sample charges may apply for custom sizes and are credited against the first full order.
Q11: What is your export experience?
We have been exporting Brass fasteners for over 30 years and regularly ship to the UK, Germany, USA, Canada, Australia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Singapore, and many other countries. We are familiar with all major export documentation requirements including Certificates of Origin, material test reports, and third-party inspection.
Q12: Can you put our company logo on the packaging?
Yes, we offer fully customised packaging — including branded polythene bags, cartons, and labels with your company logo, part numbers, and barcodes — at no significant additional cost for orders above a certain volume threshold.
Q13: What is the thread engagement length recommended for Brass Hex Nuts?
For Brass (softer than steel), the recommended minimum thread engagement length is 1.0 to 1.5 times the nominal bolt diameter. For critical structural applications, 1.5D is preferred to ensure full load bearing without thread stripping.
Q14: Are Brass Hex Nuts electrically conductive?
Yes. Brass is an excellent electrical conductor with approximately 26–28% IACS conductivity. Brass nuts are commonly used at busbar terminals, earthing points, and switchgear connections where good electrical contact is required.
Q15: What makes Brass Hex Nuts better than Zinc-plated Steel nuts in electrical applications?
Brass nuts are non-magnetic, non-sparking, and naturally corrosion-resistant without depending on the integrity of a plating layer. Zinc-plated steel nuts can lose their corrosion protection if the coating is scratched or chipped, and they are not suitable in ATEX or explosive environments due to spark risk. Brass remains the preferred choice in electrical, marine, and hazardous area applications globally.
Performance Metrics
Brass Hex Nuts manufactured from C36000 / CW614N Brass achieve a proof load stress of approximately 170 MPa at ambient temperature, which is sufficient for the majority of electrical and light-to-medium structural applications. For high-temperature applications (up to 150°C continuous), properties are retained within 90% of ambient values. Salt spray corrosion resistance in natural Brass exceeds 96 hours per ASTM B117; nickel-plated variants exceed 500 hours. Vibration resistance can be enhanced by combining Brass Hex Nuts with Brass spring washers or nylon-insert locking features where required by the application.
